Does Your Cedar Need Help?

To get a quick health check of your Cedar, walk around the entire house and compare your cladding against the scale below.

If your house looks dull, is fading or silvering (stages 1-2), your Cedar requires maintenance.  If your Cedar has passed this point (stages 3 onwards), it requires restoration

Cedar is ‘low-maintenance’ but it’s not ‘no-maintenance’. To protect your home - your most valuable asset - and to keep it looking beautiful year-round, exposed areas should be treated at least once every two years.

If you choose to leave it, problems will compound and you may need to replace the Cedar completely if cracks or splits get too wide. A costly solution to an avoidable problem!

What Kind of Treatment Does Your Cedar Need?

For most Cedar homes, a wash and oil will be enough to treat or rejuvenate your cladding and bring faded Cedar back to life!

1WASH

First, a low-pressure chemical wash should be used to remove oxidised coatings, mould and lichen. Avoid using a domestic-grade water blaster as without professional training it's likely to damage the Cedar which is a naturally soft wood.

2 COLOUR

Keep your Cedar natural or choose a colour from our wide selection of stains to get just the look you want. Mimic untreated Cedar with Kauri Gum, go darker with grey Flint or black with Foundry, or go lighter with a white Damper. The choice is yours.

3 OIL

Oil works like moisturiser for Cedar, deeply replenishing the natural oils extracted by the sun and keeping it protected. Depending on the condition of your Cedar, different amounts of oil will need to be applied to different areas of the property.
